About a month ago Plein Air Austin met in San Marcos, TX at Rio Vista Park.  This place is a haven for kayakers because of the rapids and the spring fed San Marcos River.  I became entranced with one wave form in the rapids that displayed a nice curve and a strong light to dark contrast:

I painted a second version of the wave while there, this time using a more dry brush technique:
