This is a small (7X10) sketch done after a few thousand feet elevation gain on a hike up from white sands into dog canyon (near Cloudcroft N.M).  The mountains in the distance are the Black Range and beyond them is the Gila Wilderness, the country’s first designated wilderness area.  The flat basin in the middle is the white sands missle testing range.
