Plein Air Austin met at the wedding chapel in NE Austin, the Bar Mansion.  I intended to paint the mansion in shadow against the early sun, but the garden in the foreground wanted to take over.  I let it. (note:  The “swarm of bees” near the top is not in the painting but I could not keep my camera from putting it in— a distortion perhaps caused by the reflectivity of the pigment (dragon’s blood) I mixed with the yellow at that point in the sky–oh well.

  1. Lovely! (Reminds me of a wedding I attended there long ago. There was a fierce thunderstorm, the tent blew down, and the marriage didn’t last either!)

  2. Wonderful! Colors of summer. I like the swarm of bees!

  3. Hi Robert!
This is Cory (Chris’ HS friend who was always drawing at your house). I’m impressed, I didn’t even know you painted. I really like the San Marcos River & Bull Creek pieces. They remind me of John Gannam and Bob Peak respectively. If I ever make it back to Austin maybe we can paint together…though my watercolor skills are a little rusty…time to practice.

  4. This is lovely, Robert. Thank you for following my blog.
